Al Ain Facility
The GCC region’s first industrial Black Soldier Fly plant
Nestled in the Al Hiyar area of Al Ain, Circa Biotech’s industrial facility spans 1,600 sqm and operates with cutting-edge environmental control systems, maintaining a 27°C temperature and 80% relative humidity. Key infrastructure includes:
• Feedstock pre-processing unit with industrial grinders
• Rearing halls with automated trays weighing and filling
• Larvae and frass separation with industrial sieve
• Larvae drying system using industrial LPG dryers
• Insect oil extraction via high temperature screw press
• a climate-controlled breeding suite of 48 LED-lit cages
The facility is designed to process 6,000 tons of food waste annually and is optimized for biosecurity, biosafety, and high throughput with minimal environmental impact. It is the GCC region’s first semi-automated Black Soldier Fly plant that was purpose-built for desert conditions.
In our facility we transform pre-consumer food waste into premium protein meal for animal feed, insect oil for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) pathways, and nutrient-rich frass fertilizer. Designed and audited to the Ministry Of Climate Change And Environment's Insect Farming GMP guidelines, the plant operates under complete food safety procedures. A proprietary ERP links every kilogram of input waste to its rearing batch, thermal treatment record, quality result, and customer shipment. Data is stored for 5 years and can be exported instantly for audits.
Protein, oil, and frass are released only after passing Salmonella/E. coli absence tests, < 2 % frass moisture, and ≤ 10 ppm phosphorus in the oil—already compliant with ASTM D4054 Tier 2 and RSB/CORSIA feedstock requirements. Certificates of Analysis accompany every outbound lot.
Validated through Argonne GREET LCA, the facility diverts 6,000 tons of food waste annually, avoiding approximately 5,500 tons of CO₂-equivalent methane emissions—equal to removing 1,200 UAE cars from the road each year.
Industrial-scale, regulation-ready, and climate-positive, the Al Ain industrial facility stands as Circa Biotech’s blueprint for global expansion and an open invitation for partners, investors, and customers to witness circular agriculture at scale.
